Let's look closely at it!■AI Hallucination:One of the significant challenges with generative AI is 'hallucination,' where AI presents false information as if it were fact. EXAONE can address this issue head-on by leveraging high-quality data and advanced techniques to minimize inaccuracies. LG AI Research’s approach includes an AI framework known as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) which allows EXAONE to cross-reference information from external data sources, enhancing response accuracy.■Molecular structures:EXAONE, trained on 350 million licensed image-text data pairs, excels in chemistry by learning from both text and images, including molecular structures and graphs. Using advanced transfer learning and a geometrically aligned transfer encoder, EXAONE can predict molecular properties based on fundamental chemical principles. This approach will enhance its predictive capabilities, potentially boosting experimental chemists' productivity at LG Chem by identifying promising materials and suggesting efficient methods for new medicines.■Medical Insights:EXAONE's multimodal capabilities can shine in biomedicine. By processing diverse datasets like medical records, genomic datasets, histology slides, and spatial transcriptomics, EXAONE will aid in identifying new biomarkers and understanding disease mechanisms. LG AI Research’s collaboration with The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) will focus on discovering new biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease, with a goal to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment strategies. LG AI Research is also developing interactive AI tools to support oncologists by keeping them updated with the latest research and aiding in treatment decisions based on genomic data.
